The Rita Hayworth
of This Generation
The Rita Hayworth of this Generation written and performed by Tina D'Elia, is her third woman-one-show that she started developing in 2010. Recently Tina performed a successful three-week-run of her show at The Garage in San Francisco (November, 2013).
"The Rita Hayworth of this Generation is the story of Carmelita Cristina Rivera, a queer Latina performer, who is ready to premiere her show, an homage to Rita Hayworth, in a seedy Las Vegas nightclub. She feels this will make her a star, but enter the Transgender Playboy, Jesus Antonio Gitano. Carmelita falls for Jesus and enters a world of magical realism where dead Hollywood Movie Stars collide with the living."
"Tina D'Elia is a Tour De Force!"

"Hold onto your hats! Tina takes over the stage like a summer storm -- brilliantly flashing between characters at lightning speed. Hilarious, sassy, smart, impressive!"

"Tina D’Elia’s new show, The Rita Hayworth of This Generation, introduces its audience to a cast of scheming and manipulative characters who end up, surprisingly, charming us with the pleasure of their company. Tina D’Elia’s magic as a performer is that there are times when one is able to forget there’s only a single actor on stage.”

"Tina D'Elia in The Rita Hayworth of this Generation is incandescent. Her words, her mind, her heart, her presence - these all burn white-hot, like a welder's torch. Where she places her focus, things transform!"
